Meet Corey Action

Corey Action was blessed with the ability to teach and

choreograph at the tender age of seven. However, Action’s

technical training began at Skyline High in Oakland,

CA where he studied jazz and modern dance, and stage production.

Over the years he has utilized many different types of music in

bringing hip-hop to well-known gyms, respected dance studios and

public schools in the Bay Area and Worldwide. He has always been

able to transform beginning dancers into dynamic and confident

dancers with his skillful choreography.

Action was not only dancing his way into the hearts of many fans and supporters of hip-hop, but also singing, writing and acting his way in as well. Action started singing in school and the World renown LOVE CENTER choir, directed by the late Bishop Water Hawkins & Edwin Hawkins. At age of twelve he begin rapping & was giving him the nickname, “C-Style.”

Action has choreographed and provided Artist Development for a diverse group of artists such as Korean super star, Lee Seung Chul, Hip Hop Youngster Mac Mall, Latin dance diva Angelina, Filipino pop sensation Jocelyn Enriquez, and SOULTRAIN & GRAMMY AWARD WINNER Melanie Fiona. Action was also apart of the deployment team for R&B Star & Oakland native Kehlani. He has traveled the globe including Brazil, Japan, Italy, Canada, Germany, Romania, Russia, Paris, Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Philippines working as a producer, costume designer, casting agent, make-up consultant, choreographer, coach, and dancer. Producer-song writer Dwayne Wiggins of Tony Toni Tone and producer-song writer Robbie Nevel, hired Action to work with many of the acts that they produce. Action has even choreographed for the internationally known Korean Dance Company Nool, with award winning choreographer Ko Chun-Sik. Action was also recruited by Usher to judge Usher’s Youth Entertainer Program. Action is definitely a man of many trades. His unlimited artistic abilities make him one of the most promising low key entertainers in the business.

The San Francisco International Hip Hop Dancefest honored Action with the 2018 Bay Area Legend Award in February. Action, and his amazing dance company, New Style Motherlode, were recognized and awarded the International Isadora Duncan Dance Award for Best Performance by a Company in 2005/2006. Action is featured in the History Book Series of Images of America’s latest issue, “Black Artists” in Oakland CA. Establishing his Artistry as one of Oakland, CA finest, Action, opened the Bay Area’s 1st HIP HOP dance studio in an upscale district in Oakland, properly named NEW STYLE MOTHERLODE STUDIO. The studio opened in 2001 and has been growing successfully with clients and students from around the world, who come to learn from some of the best instructors in the Bay Area. NSM has trained dancers who have gone on to International success, with artists such as Britney, Madonna, Beyoncé’, America’s Best Dance Crew, Hamilton and many more. The studio offers Hip Hop, Jazz, Afro Cuban, Ballet Technique, Break-Dancing, Modern and West African. The Studio houses the New Style Motherlode Dance Company, Diamond Dance Company, Sparkle Dance Team and the choreography team, Neopolitan, and a host of Internationally known Choreographers.
